Facial Changes

Paalu Brain - Love in the Lunacy was an idea for a clothing brand in 2018, where Paalu thought a tag line could encapsulate his brand.

It is still undecided whether or not he is going to use this idea, but it was a romantic period nonetheless —he would sketch ideas for psychedelic t shirts, hoodies, and write pages upon pages about the concept of his brand.

Shockingly, he has since been affected by the rare ‘aging’ phenomena, and lost his youthful, all too vibrant and rebellious edge to something sounding grey and dull for 18 year old Paalu.

He has grown up to become fairly what he imagined, but not in the manner he imagined it would occur.
Growing up was not a part of 18 year old Paalu’s schedule, as he naively assumed rebellious maxims to be a path of longevity.

Less details, less vibrance, less spookiness, and lighter colors were not the changes he had anticipated when he was a young, longhaired, baggy-clothed adult.

Throughout his journey he has taken many unexpected turns, often putting him in painful but refreshing situations.

The sudden changes were usually triggered by a “this doesn’t work” or a “we can’t do this forever” or a “I feel caged by this way of life” — and often resulted in chaotic room decorations, 6 am runs, 15 hour work days, dietary extremism, abstaining from various sources of pleasure, break-ups, and sudden relocations.

Yet the vibrance, chaos, and details remained in his creations.

It was until he embarked the journey of making a website, that he needed structure, simplicity, and effective habits to live somewhat reasonable, also contaminating his artistic direction accordingly.

This artwork marks the changes Paalu undergoes every half a year or so.

Each stem on the tree pierces a head, where each head signifies a period in his life.

The tree points towards the corner, where the ‘Paalu Brain’ sign is located.

Yet it is not to say that the tree point towards a clothing brand, but rather towards a desired future, where Paalu has achieved his ambitions because he grows by making the necessary changes to achieve them.
